WYB Basketball Food Drive for Family Mentor Foundation
by posted 02/17/2019

Sunday, February 24 during the Boys Rec Basketball games, WYB Basketball will be hosting a food drive for the Family Mentor Program Buddy Bags.  Buddy Bags are given out to kids in our Worthington School district on Fridays to provide food for the weekends.  We all recognize the importance of basic nutrition as an energy source for the players, but there are some kids in our Worthington Schools that do not have basic food for the weekends.  Buddy Bags fill in the gaps for these children.  The WYB basketball program was approached by parents of two of the Basketball teams to host a food drive when they found out that the Buddy Bag program is down around 1,000 bags to finish out the school year.  WYB Basketball is excited to be able to assist with this effort. We hope that each team can bring some of the most used items in the buddy bags to donate on Sunday.

The most needed Buddy Bag items include
• Individual microwavable meals
• Shelf-stable single milk boxes (8oz)
• Individual pudding cups
• Individual fruit cups
• Individual vegetable cups
• Granola bars
• Oatmeal packets

Please consider picking one or more of these food items and bring the items to the game on February 24, 2019.  There will be bins to place the food labeled with each grade level in the lobby of Thomas Worthington. Let’s see which grade can bring the most food!

Please help WYB Basketball feed OUR Worthington kids and show the true community spirit of what Worthington Strong Basketball is all about.

See this link to a flyer that talks a little more about the Buddy Bag Program.  Please contact Jeannie Toops at with any questions.

Thank you so much for your support.
